A modern interpretation of the classic American Colonial style home. The traditional massing of the home characterized by a steeply pitched gable roof and shed dormers harmonizes with the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, while the finish materials and details are crisp and distinctly modern. Despite the narrow lot, the basement is designed to maximize natural lighting with carefully located lightwells on each side of the building.

The steel stair guardrail is a simple waxed mill-scale finish, expressing the raw material. The hardwood flooring and stair has a subtle custom gray tinted natural finish.

The exterior accent siding is a maintenance free fiber cement panel/rain screen system configured to read as a distinctive oversized horizontal siding to contrast with the more textural wood lap siding.

The kitchen backsplash is detailed strategically with windows, which read as frameless glass on the interior, providing extra natural light while maximizing cabinetry for storage.

We're extremely satisfied and happy with our square three designed home. Building our dream home was a true collaboration and enjoyable process. Tom was detailed, dedicated, and responsive. He was amazing in understanding our needs and providing fresh and innovative thinking to achieve our goals.
